Easter STEM Activities for Kids

Easter STEM Activities for Kids

You’ve bought the chocolate eggs, you’ve found the Easter baskets, the cards are made, the Peter Rabbit movie is ready, and you’re all set for a fun Easter break. BUT do you have any screen-free activities that are fun AND educational for your kids to engage with this Easter? Scrap that, do you have any fun, screen-free, educational activities that will help your children develop their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills this Easter? If you do, well done! If not, don’t worry – we’ve compiled a list of some of our favourite sites that have a host of egg-cellent STEM challenges for your little ones to engage with over the holidays. All of these simple STEM activities provide a great opportunity for kids to design, predict, problem-solve and explore – powerful life lessons that will really help them in the future.

  1. Science Sparks – this incredible mum of four and STEM children’s book author creates free science experiments for kids and we LOVE these challenges she’s put together for Easter, especially the egg chute experiment! https://www.science-sparks.com/easter-stem-challenges/
  2. STEAMsational this brilliant mum used to hate science (whhhhaaaat?!!) but was inspired by her 4-year-old daughter to embrace STEM when she started picking science and maths books from the library instead of fairy tales. She then went on to create a curriculum – the STEAMsational program – which is used in thousands of classrooms, homes and after-school clubs across the globe, fostering a love of STEM in children everywhere! Check out her super fun STEM Easter activities for kids here: https://www.steamsational.com/easter-stem-activities/
  3. Fun Learning for Kids – mum and former teacher Danielle has some fab educational resources on her blog and has compiled her own list of Easter science activities for kids of all ages. We particularly like the egg launcher idea! https://funlearningforkids.com/easter-science-and-stem-activities-for-kids/

We’ve also created our very own Easter STEM activities which you can download and print from here or by clicking directly on the challenges below:

B-bot's Egg-citing Coding Challenge - Beginners
B-bot's Egg-citing Coding Challenge - Smarty Pants

Can you crack B-Bot’s egg-citing Coding Challenges? These activities help develop STEM skills like coding and sequencing. Opt for the ‘Beginner Level’ to build your confidence and then see if you can tackle the ‘Smarty-pants Level’! HINT – For the ‘Beginner Level’ it takes 11 steps to reach the end, and for the ‘Smarty Pants Level’ it takes 19 steps. There are, in fact, two correct routes within 19 steps for the ‘Smarty Pants Level’ to reach the end – bonus points if you can find BOTH paths!

B-bot Easter Egg Programming

This is a fun activity for children aged 7+ to practice programming. It’s a chance for them to discover Python, one of the most used programming languages, in a fun and unplugged way.

How many eggs?

Practice your logic skills with this fun counting exercise.

We hope (or should we say ‘hop’!) you have an egg-cellent Easter and your little scientists enjoy cracking these STEM challenges!

At QuestFriendz we believe that imaginative and hands-on purposeful play, when combined with problem-solving through play, are key to providing young children with an engaging and memorable experience. Starting STEM at an early age helps children to make important connections between everyday life and the STEM disciplines. Addressing young children also allows us to harness their natural curiosity. This magical state helps to accelerate learning including STEM learning. Children become better equipped to face a fast-paced and evolving world, when problem-solving skills and learning to fail are introduced from a young age.

We’ll be sharing some more of our favourite STEM educational quests for parents to try out with their kids at home or for teachers to try in the classroom. Stay tuned!
